Asking questions? (So are your people!)

Hello Reader, This past weekend we went to the coast in order to avoid, believe it or not, fireworks at Halloween. I grew up going to this particular beach town and it sometimes creatives a problem, because my memories of what's available are rooted in approximately 1994. Which was, I'm sorry to say, some time ago. So, like any typical user of the internet (92 percent of us, to be specific!), I started searching. Here are some examples of things I asked the internet:
(Here's a dog picture from this weekend.) This is incredibly typical consumer behavior—and it extends to basically anything we need or are curious about. We ask. Most of us ask Google, a small segment asks generative AI software like ChatGPT, others use alternative search engines like Duck Duck Go to ask, others talk to Siri, but it's all asking nevertheless. And the regardless of the origins of the questions, the answers literally come from content on the internet, on websites. This means that we, as people with websites, have a really cool opportunity: We can answer those questions.And what happens when we answer those questions? We build trust. We build our brands. We build our authority. That's all simply by acknowledging that we know more than the people who may need us, so we provide that knowledge to them so they can make good decisions. Some people may even call this "overcoming objections." This is a technique I've used in my own business for years, because it melds the various search engines with innate human curiosity—it feels like approachable marketing that's actually helpful, kind of like magic. I've taught this at least annual over the years, up until 2023. However, the mechanics and mechanisms of search have changed a lot since then, so I had to dig deeply into research to make sure that I was providing current data and relevant trends, which took quite some time (hence the teaching hiatus).
