Best Next Steps 🪜
Hello Reader,
Oftentimes, people tell me that they need to "do marketing," but they're faced with overwhelming choices about tactics—so much so that even contemplating a strategic approach seems overwhelming and impossible.
I set out to solve that oh so common challenge.
I asked myself, "Could I use my (in)famous strategy framework to develop a simple, accessible assessment that would say, 'Hey this is the strategic area that's right for you, right now?'"
Using a whole bunch of experimentation with my own resources (yes, I use my own tools—I'm suspicious when people don't, frankly), I started playing with Interact (disclaimer: I'm a long-time partner of theirs) and the built in logic and scoring to see if I can generate the right answers for various sets of circumstances, using personas I use in my work with clients.
The result is the first iteration of my marketing strategy assessment, geared to help you see what the best next STRATEGIC step may be for you.

Most of these Buzzfeed-style assessments don't quite do it for me, in all honesty. So, I set out to create something different: I wanted substance and value that would actually inspire action.
So, in addition to making this self-assessment—for now—opt-in optional, I've paired each result with loads of resources and advice (and sure, some of that advice will be easier if you just work with me and my team!) so you can take action immediately.
I love strategy, but too often it seems overwhelming to folks who aren't natural strategists, like a giant mountain to climb. But to continue the metaphor, I'm hoping to give you enough gear through this self-assessment to reach basecamp.
As I mentioned, this self-assessment is just a first step. But, for now, I hope this helps you see what's possible and help you dip your toes into strategy—even if it seems scary!
Talk soon,
Sarah
P.S. As I mentioned last week, my schedule is getting jam-packed, so if you are thinking of working with us in 2023, do reach out to schedule a discussion about what the right steps may be for your goals, capacity, and budget.
