Not a Trendy Tactic 🛑
Hello Reader, If you're even loosely connected to the online marketing world like me, you've probably seen a lot of chatter. Some "big names" are finally waking up to the problems with the pyramid-scheme-style marketing that's been so pervasive since 2020 or so. (I wrote about this on my blog many years ago, if you want to dive deeper.) If you've been spared this particular online discourse, honestly, I'm a little jealous, ha! What really crumbles my cookies, though, is watching some of these marketers treat this newfound "awareness" as just another shiny new marketing "trend" to cash in on. Let's be clear: Ethical business isn't a trendy tactic you deploy—it's, instead, the very core of how you operate. Ethical business and, by extension, ethical marketing, is signified by whether you genuinely care about the people you serve and whether you conduct your business with integrity. It's about taking responsibility when you mess up and making things right. It's about transparency, plain and simple. I firmly believe we're all capable of learning, growing, and doing better. Nobody's perfect, and the journey of embracing ethical marketing means unlearning old patterns and consciously adopting new ones. So, what are your values? Don't just think about them—write them down. There's a tangible power in putting pen to paper. Living by these values might mean connecting with an amazing community, or it might mean saying a firm "no" to what the latest "guru" is pushing. Both are valid and important steps on your path. Warmly, Sarah |
