The "all shine, no depth" problem 💎

Hello Reader,

Most experts have spent years, if not decades, honing their skills and knowledge but done little to make that experience discoverable so it can have greater impact.

It makes sense, honestly. You know how to do your thing—no one gave you a map to follow or a route to ensure people actually know about you. And if you’ve spent a lot of time in corporate life where visibility was someone else’s job, it’s all the more distant from your mind.

One of the most common things I hear from new clients is frustration that a competitor who’s literally less skilled is siphoning off clients or customers. How can those folks not see that that competitor is all shine and no depth? I know that's driven me bonkers in the past!

The thing is, other people truly can’t see your expertise because they don’t know what they don’t know. So those prospects choose the folks with the fancy brand, or the easy scheduling, or the one that pops up first in Google.

And that’s why I feel so strongly that the better you are at what you do, you have what's almost a moral imperative to share that expertise and make sure that people are getting your world-class solution—not the kinda-sorta-semi-solution from Mr. Fancy Pants down the way.

There are lots of paths to take to doing this, but I teach a pretty approachable one that my clients—from creatives to scientists, speakers to physicians—say kind of feels like a bit of a cheat because it works without all the fuss and complexity that the marketing industrial complex says we need.

And, yes, if you want to do this with me this summer, now is the time to hop on the Summer of SEO waitlist before I send out the first round of openings next week.

Onward & upward,

Sarah
