Hello Reader, I don't have a lot of absolutes in my world. Ultimately, I think we can take the advice that makes sense for us and leave what we don't need behind. But with that said, I find myself recommending three long(ish)-form articles or blog posts to the majority of people I work with because they simply work. And I thought it would be helpful for you to get a bit of a quick win by borrowing one of these prompts, which are included in my extremely awesome ebook, The Title Bank. Prompt #1: Explain Yourself Thinking about SERVICE? Ask yourself these # questions first (e.g. Thinking About Hiring an IP Attorney? Ask Yourself These Three Questions First) This is great because it contains insights and demystifies what you do. I've seen such a huge range of people use this one, from home improvement pros to web designers and just about everything in between. Prompt #2: Explore the Differences This vs That (e.g. Squarespace vs WordPress, Social Media vs YouTube, Group Dog Training vs Private Training) Comparing the two options your potential client or customer is choosing between does so much! It acknowledges that people have competing needs, that making these decisions is hard, and that you understand where you sit in the larger marketing ecosystem. Even if they decide the other option is better, you've still built trust—win-win! Prompt #3: Sound a Warning Red Flags from [Your industry] (e.g. 5 Red Flags About SEO Agencies—Plus a Green Flag) One of my more popular articles is this format, which you can read here. I love this type of article because it's, firstly, incredibly easy for most people to write. (We love that!) I also appreciate that it plants your flag around your values and ethics. You likely have strong feelings about your industry, the good, bad, and ugly, and this is your chance to break down what and why. (Like I mentioned, you can get 47 more of these with more detailed explainers, in my ebook!) Given the marketing chaos many people are sharing with me, now is a really good time to shore up marketing you can control—that stuff on your website. If you've long-delayed getting back to posting an article now and again (if you did one per month I would be on Cloud 9), seriously consider committing to content now. Future You will be glad you did. Talk soon, Sarah |
