Your "why" matters more than your follower count

Hello Reader, Today, I have a quick pep talk for you. All of the people I work with share a similar dream: they want to make a genuine impact. Maybe they want to shift their industry, launch a foundation, or scale their business to reach more people. Others hope to take the stage as a keynote speaker to change hearts and minds, or publish a book to share a big idea with even more people. Others have more personal goals, of transforming their families for generations to come so future members of their families have choices they haven't even dreamed of yet. Whatever your specific vision looks like, it all comes down to impact. You know what it isn't? Influencing. Or chasing internet fame. While there are certainly people with massive followings who do incredible work, high visibility is not a prerequisite for meaningful success. In fact, the hard truth is that chasing internet fame often holds people back. It’s easy to get derailed by the dopamine hit and immediate feedback loops of short-term attention. So if you’re someone who looks at social media and dreads the idea of spending half your day fighting an algorithm just to sell your services, here is the good news: you don't have to. Because you aren't distracted by vanity metrics, you are actually in a better position to focus on what matters. Real impact is created by anyone committed to building authentic authority in a way that feels aligned with their values. If you’ve ever felt pushed toward a marketing tactic that just feels wrong for you (for me, it’s always been LinkedIn), know that there is a better path forward. Get crystal clear on the impact you want to make—your fundamental why—and start taking deliberate action toward it. Share that vision with the world, consistently and intentionally. You’ll get there. Warmly, Sarah |
